Stagecoach drives sustainability as a sponsor of The Late Shows 2025
North East Museums (formerly Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums) the organisation that co-ordinates, The Late Shows, has announced Stagecoach as a key sponsor, joining Creative Central NCL in supporting the popular after-hours cultural event.
Stagecoach’s generous contribution will ensure the continuation of a free bus service during the event on Friday 16 May across Ouseburn and Saturday 17 May across Gateshead and Newcastle, making the event easy to access for as many people as possible.
Adding to their commitment to sustainability, Stagecoach will be deploying several of its new electric vehicles for the free bus service. This initiative will provide passengers with a comfortable and environmentally friendly journey between the event’s numerous venues. The electric buses, currently in service in Sunderland, will also operate in Newcastle from the summer.
Steve Walker, Managing Director at Stagecoach, said:
“It’s great to be able to support such a diverse and forward-thinking event, and to be able to share our new sustainable transport methods by using our electric vehicles to provide the free shuttle buses during the festival.
Encouraging local people to get involved with culture events such as these is something we’re passionate to support and a great way to showcase talent from across the region.”
Bill Griffiths, Head of Programmes and Collections at North East Museums, which co-ordinates The Late Shows added:
“We’re thrilled to have Stagecoach sponsor this year's event. Not only do their free buses allow visitors to fully enjoy the night, hopping between venues and discovering new experiences, but we're especially delighted they're providing several of their new electric vehicles. This is a significant step towards reducing the environmental footprint of The Late Shows, making it both accessible and sustainable – a partnership that truly benefits everyone.”
The Late Shows 2025 is rapidly taking shape, with the event line-up being finalised for the official programme launch at the end of March. The organisers are excited to reveal that over 70 venues will be participating in this year's after-hours culture crawl.
The Late Shows 2025 promises to be an unforgettable weekend, offering a unique opportunity to explore the region’s vibrant cultural scene for free, after-hours.
