Blackfriars is set within a 13th-century former Dominican friary. Established in 1239 it remains the jewel of Newcastle’s medieval past and has a fascinating history. Over the years Blackfriars has expanded from the friar’s refectory dining room to almost all the remaining claustral out-buildings and today boasts a Banquet Hall, Parlour Bar, Cookery School and Tasting Room as well as a number of function/meeting rooms. Also a beautiful Cloister Garden.
