Northumbria University Music

Northumbria Music sits within Northumbria University’s Department of Humanities. We teach Foundation year and BA Music programmes encompassing music performance, education, history and compositional techniques. We supervise numerous PhD students, host the Montagu Collection of Global Musical Instruments and undertake research on music and musical culture from the 16th-21st centuries.

Come and join students and researchers to explore musical journeys through time and place. Follow circus musicians round Britain, trace the long histories of songs still sung today across land and sea, take part in mini music-workshops, and get visually creative to express your own musical journey!
