Dunston Staiths is the last remaining staith on the Tyne – large structures built to transfer coal from trains to collier ships. After its closure in 1980, Dunston Staiths has become a haven for local wildlife and is part of the Tyne Derwent Way, celebrating local heritage, arts, and culture.
