Dunston Staiths is the last remaining staith on the Tyne – large structures built to transfer coal from trains to collier ships. After its closure in 1980, Dunston Staiths has become a haven for local wildlife and is part of the Tyne Derwent Way, celebrating local heritage, arts, and culture.

Open: 6-9pm, limited wheelchair access
The historic Dunston Staiths will be open, weather permitting, until sunset (9pm). This is a rare opportunity to soak up the unique view along the Tyne from an historic structure. Wear sensible shoes and walk up to the top deck where there’ll be short heritage talks running at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm.
Wheelchairs will be able to access the lower deck and top decks separately although the two are connected by stairs on the structure itself, so access to the top deck is via the waggonway running onto the structure.
Show Times: 6pm, 7pm and 8pm
