These are Our Treasures.
Treasures come in all shapes and sizes. Some are bought, many are found. They can be old or new, passed down from generation to generation, handmade, or a precious gift. Some may mark an emotion, a memory, a significant event, relationship or a belief.
As part of the Late Shows 2022 the Laing Art Gallery will be exploring your treasures, inviting you to tell them about your objects of personal significance and their connected histories. From the everyday to the handmade, the religious to the profane, hand-me-downs to beach finds. Does your treasure have a tale to tell?
The project has been conceived and developed by artist Ruth Ewan in response to the Lindisfarne Gospels and its journey to the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle, in September 2022.
